Proposal for Introducing "Law & Public Safety Education" as a Compulsory Subject in Higher Secondary Schools with a Government AI-Based Legal Awareness Platform

Education should prepare students not only for academic success but also for responsible and safe living. I propose introducing "Law & Public Safety Education" as a compulsory subject in Higher Secondary Schools (Classes IX–XII), supported by a Government AI-Based Legal Awareness Platform.

The curriculum should provide practical knowledge on:

  • Indian Constitution, Fundamental Rights & Duties
  • Basic Laws Every Citizen Should Know
  • Traffic Rules & Road Safety
  • Underage Driving Awareness
  • Bicycle Safety
  • Cyber Safety & Digital Responsibility
  • Safe Use of Mobile Phones, Social Media & AI
  • Consumer Rights
  • Women's Rights & Legal Protection
  • Child Rights, Child Labour, Child Marriage & Right to Education (RTE)
  • Personal Safety & Safe Solo Travel
  • Good Touch & Bad Touch Awareness
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Fire Safety & Disaster Management
  • Mental Well-being & Healthy Relationships
  • Healthy Lifestyle and Nutrition (Reducing Fast Food Dependency)
  • Financial Fraud Prevention
  • Public Service Infrastructure (Police, Courts, Fire, Ambulance & Disaster Response)

The proposal also includes a multilingual Government AI-Based Legal Awareness App to provide simple legal information, public safety guidance, emergency support, educational videos, quizzes, and updated legal information.

3. What is the Present Condition, and What Positive Change Will This Suggestion Bring?

Present Condition

India has made remarkable progress in education. However, many students complete school without practical knowledge of:

  • Child Labour Prohibition Act, Child Marriage Prohibition Act and Right to Education (RTE).
  • Safe travel and emergency preparedness.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Public service departments and legal procedures.
  • Healthy lifestyle awareness amid increasing fast-food consumption.
  • Financial fraud prevention and digital responsibility.

As a result, many young citizens become vulnerable to accidents, cybercrime, legal misunderstandings, health issues, and unsafe situations.
