புதுக்கவிதை 

மதுரை கங்காதரன் 

தீப ஒளித் திருநாளாம் தீபாவளியாம்!

புத்தாடை உடுத்தி மகிழ்வார்களாம்.

பட்டாசு போட்டு  வெடி வெடிப்பார்களாம் 

கடல் அலையாய் கூட்டம் கூடுமாம் 

அரிதானவர்களை அன்று பார்க்கலாமாம் 

உறவினர்கள் பலரும் ஒன்று சேர்வார்களாம்  

நண்பர்களை விருந்துக்கு அழைப்பார்களாம்  

சிறுவர்கள் ஆடிப் பாடி விளையாடுவார்களாம் 

வேலை செய்பவர்களுக்கு 'போனஸ்' பெறுவார்களாம் 

தொழில் செய்பவர்களுக்கு 'லாபம்' கிடைக்குமாம்    

புதுத்திரைப்படங்கள் தியேட்டர்களில் ஓடுமாம் 

இளைஞர்கள் வாகனத்தில் பவனி வருவார்களாம் 

கோவிலுக்குச் சென்று இறைவனைத் தொழுவார்களாம் 

சாதி சமய இன வேறுபாடில்லாமல் கொண்டாடுவார்களாம் 

ஜவுளிக் கடைகளில் கூட்டம் அலை மோதுமாம்.

கடைகள் போட்டி போட்டுத் 'தள்ளுபடி'  கொடுப்பார்களாம் 

ஏழைகள் இந்த நாளில் தான் புத்தாடை வாங்குவார்களாம் 

இந்த நாளில் தான் அவர்கள் பலகாரம் செய்வார்களாம் 

இந்த நன் நாளில்பலருக்கு பரிசுகள் கொடுப்பார்களாம் 

அனாதை இல்லங்களில் மகிழ்ச்சி பொங்க வைப்போம்

இனிப்பு வழங்கி அவர்களோடு கொண்டாடுவோம் 

முதியோர் இல்லங்களில் சோகத்தை துரத்துவோம் 

தானங்கள் கொடுத்து மனித நேயத்தை வளர்ப்போம் 

நாட்டின் ஒற்றுமையை இதன் மூலம் காட்டுவோம்..

People are gathered like ocean

Rare persons are seen in this occasion

All relations are united in in the festival time

Given special hospitality to all friends

Children and kids are playing and dancing happily

Working people are getting 'Bonus' for that year 

Owners are seeing 'Profit' in this festival season

Many new films are released in this time

Youngsters are rounding their area with bikes

Go to the temple and Worship the God with family 

Celebrate this festival irrespective of religion and caste

Crowd seen in all stores, shops and textiles showrooms 

Sell their goods with competitive by giving 'Reduction' 

This is the only day poor are wearing new cloths

Poor are making sweets and preparing tiffin this day only 

Giving presentations and gifts to all their relative and neighbors 

We give gift to orphanage and make them happy

By giving sweets to them and celebrate this festival

Going to old-age home and make them happy 

Giving donations and shows our humanity   

Show our national integrity through this festival.
